When a fully restored 1962 GMC won Best Overall at the Oklahoma Mustang Club’s Freedom Fest car show in Yukon, the award reflected more than its appearance. It reflected the care provided by its owner and the expertise of our auto care specialists. Before it ever reached the show field, the truck underwent a complete protection package at DL Fine Auto. Paint correction, ceramic coating, window tint, and interior protection all worked together to prepare it for years of enjoyment—and even competition.
A vehicle this classic can carry decades of oxidation, faded trim, and age-related paint imperfections that a modern daily driver doesn’t have—which meant every step of the process had to be planned correctly to get a result that could hold up under judges’ eyes.
Paint Correction First
Every protection package starts with the paint itself. The team performed a multi-step correction, working through compounding and multiple polishing passes to remove any swirl marks, oxidation, and clear coat imperfections before anything else touched the surface.
This is the same philosophy behind DL Fine Auto’s multi-step paint correction process: coatings and films can only be as good as what’s underneath them, so the finish has to be leveled and refined first. Skipping this step—or rushing it—means the coating seals existing imperfections beneath the protective layer instead of preserving a properly restored finish.
Locking In the Shine
Once the paint was corrected, every painted surface received a CarPro DQuartz GO ceramic coating, followed by a CarPro SiC top coat for extra gloss and durability. This two-layer approach reflects the role ceramic coating is meant to play. Rather than simply creating the shine, it protects the finish after the paint has already been properly corrected and restored.
The protection didn’t stop at the body panels. The wheels were coated with CarPro DLUX to resist brake dust and road grime, and the glass was coated with CarPro GForce for improved water beading and visibility. Inside the cab, CarPro Leather 2.0 protected the seats and CarPro Fabric 2.0 protected the carpet—extending that same “protect it, don’t just clean it” approach to the interior.
Window Tint That Doesn’t Compromise the Classic Look
Every window received Geoshield Apex Ultra film in a 70% shade, blocking out unwanted heat while allowing in plenty of natural light. A common misconception is that a lighter, more classic-looking tint automatically sacrifices performance. However, modern ceramic window film can deliver serious heat rejection at almost any shade level. That’s what made this option ideal for a classic build: it preserved the truck’s timeless look on the outside, while delivering the level of interior comfort that today’s drivers appreciate.
